Interviews: with Loïc Raffard Aerospace Engineering

1. What is the essence of Vilnius?
Tough one. I think Vilnius is at the cross roads of different countries. There is a bit of a scandinavian feeling, lots of shops are the same as in Finland, Sweden, etc. Though at the same time it is way less expensive than Scandinavia and people are much more friendly/Open minded more like Central/Eastern Europe.

2. What is your favorite restaurant/place?
Boom burger for sure!

3. Where do you go out?
Islandijos Street (Piano man, Alchemicas, KAS KAS, etc.). Went to Broadway, which was nice and Cocainn but it was a Tuesday night so not many people. Anyway there are plenty of other bars that are cool but I don’t remember the names! We’ve heard that Opium and Exit were the best but didn’t have time to check it out. Definitely don’t go to Salando.

4. Describe a perfect Sunday (or any other day) in the Vilnius city?
Perfect Sunday. Well we didn’t stay for a Sunday so it’s tough to say . But I would probably watch the sunrise at the Gediminas tower, wander in the morning in the street of the Old city. Have a nice Boom Burger for lunch then head out to the Trakai Castle for a bit of fresh air and countryside feeling. Then comeback in late afternoon for a dark Lithuanian beer and have a good Lithuanian diner. That would be the dream Sunday, the most likely version for us would be going to sleep at 5AM after the party the night before, waking up at noon/1PM, having the burger way too late and then wander in the city.

5. Please tell me more about yourself?
Myself: well I’m 28. Studied Aerospace Engineering, been working in Corporate Finance for BNP Paribas for c.4 years now, started in Paris then moved to New York for a year and a half, moved back to Paris for 2 years and now I have been in London for 3 months. I love to travel/backpack (was in Myanmar two months ago). Otherwise I love sailing (though a bit tough in London) and sport in general.
